Doctor Says "Yes!" and A Flooded Basement

As I say in my note about physical fitness, you should talk to your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise. And yesterday, I followed that advice myself. After six months of not exercising, I made an appointment with my doctor to check up. We briefly talked about some non-exercise related issues that I was having, and then I asked if I should resume exercise. After exactly zero hestitation, the doctor said: “Yes! You should start exercising.”

When I went down to the basement to exercise today, I realized that it had flooded. We get a little bit of water ingress every time it rains; this isn’t a major problem. And I immediately thought to myself: “Today is a terrible day to exercise. Don’t do it.”

But, like, why deviate from the plan?

Certainly, there must be something that I could do despite the water. And so, I did my warm-up stretching routine in the soaking basement, did some rows on the gymnastics rings, brought some kettlebells upstairs, and did a little bit of exercise. It worked fine. The flooded basement wasn’t a set back at all.
